Skye's outdoor centre since 1990 - Activities and accommodation for groups, families and individuals

Fàilte!

Whitewave is a small but busy family run outdoor centre, offering outdoor activities and self catering accommodation in rooms and wooden wigwam cabins.

We are based in the crofting township of Linicro, near Uig, on the Isle of Skye and we have been operating since 1990. Find us in Google Maps!

Whether you are here to stay the night or join us for an activity session, a warm friendly welcome awaits you. Here at Whitewave, we strive to ensure that all our visitors have a great experience and leave with a real sense of place.

Tha Whitewave air a bhi ag obair ann an ceann a tuath an Eilein Sgitheanaich bho 1990, an toiseach ann an Ùige agus a-nis ann an Lionacro. Tha na freumhaichean againn san sgìre nas doimhne fiù ‘s na sin. Tha sinn mar phàirt dhen choimhearsnachd ann an Cille Mhoire, agus tha eachdraidh agus cultar na sgìre a’ cur ris a h-uile càil a tha sinn a’ dèanamh. Ged nach eil a’ Ghàidhlig aig a h-uile duine againn, tha sinn uile le tuigse agus mothachadh air an dualchas a tha beò mun cuairt oirnn fhathast. Ma tha sibh airson bruidhinn ri cuideigin anns a’ Ghàidhlig, no mu na ghabhas dèanamh leibh tro mheadhan na Gàidhlig, dìreach cur fios thugainn. Cuireamaid fàilte oirbh a Thròdairnis nuair a thig sibh!

Activities

We offer half-day sessions for all ages and abilities in: kayaking, canoeing, climbing and abseiling, mountain boarding, hill walking, crating and archery.

Archery

It was once the duty of every man in Britain to practice archery, one day a week and normally in the high street! We don’t really have a high street but, using our on site range, we will still give you the opportunity to learn how to use a bow and arrow.

Bushcraft

Get off the grid… Build shelters from tarps and rope, light campfires, filter water. Great for families and groups and getting youngsters away from devices.

Canoeing

A more relaxing and usually ‘dryer’ watersport, using an inland loch, we introduce canoeing as a means of journeying. Particularly good for families and groups of mixed ages and abilities.

Climbing & Abseiling

Using small local crags, we can show you the ropes and get you moving on real rock. A great progression if you have some experience of indoor walls, but have never tried climbing outdoors.

Crating

Crating: where participants build a tower from plastic crates and balance on top (with a safety rope!). The idea is to go as high as you can – or dare. This involves nerve, courage and teamwork, but above all is heaps of fun!

Hill Walking

The Trotternish ridge provides some of the most spectacular fell walking in Britain.  With the contrast of rounded moorland hills edged by dramatic crags and towering pinnacles, sea cliffs, full of birds and wildlife. We have a breath-taking landscape to enjoy.

Kayaking

Using either sheltered parts of the sea or inland lochs, sessions can be a combination of journeying, skills development and games as well as a great opportunity to see Skye from a different perspective.

Mountainboarding

See it as a snowboard with wheels, or an off-road skateboard…

We use balance boards and then a nursery slope to start you off developing new skills.

Accommodation

We offer accommodation for groups, families and individuals. Our self catered rooms and wigwams have stunning panoramic views across the Minch to the Outer Isles.  Sit back, relax and enjoy the sunset from your doorstep.

Whitewave House

We have a large self-catering property which can be booked out exclusively as a whole property for a family or group of friends, or as two separate units: a spacious one bedroom flat or a larger two bedroom facility.

No.9 Cottage

This self-catering cottage, which lies one mile south of Whitewave can be booked out exclusively as a whole property for a large family or group of friends, or on an individual room-by-room basis (dependent on government guidelines).

Wigwams

The wigwam cabins are in a fantastic location for exploring the island and all it offers. The five cabins offer great panoramic views, and there’s nothing quite like watching the sun go down from your doorstep.
